Reinventing the status quo

With the final summer renovation projects well underway, it’s time to start planning for the winter. Surprisingly  in four years we’ve never really experianced “down time,” knock on wood. When I look back on how we have managed to keep things rolling throughout the years, I’m proud to say that it’s because we’ve built our business on customer service. In a world where the typical General Contractor is probably ranked just above Car Salespeople and Lawyers, as the worlds most dishonest jobs, (which I don’t agree with by the way), we strive everyday to reinvent the status quo.

Our company deals with 35+ new potential clients per week, and when customer service is our number one goal, I’d be lying if it was easy to treat everyone as our number one priority. For example, last week we lost a potential project because I wasn’t able to get back to them in time. As a business owner, something like this makes me lose sleep and my hair thin out.

I truly feel if you’d ask our clients how their “Carmax Experience  was, most would say it was “Great.” That answer probably plays a really big role into why we have never had to spend excessive dollars on advertising, as most our work comes from referrals and word of mouth. Saying that though, there is always room for improvement.

As our clients are the number one source of information on what kind of job we’re doing, we take customer feedback very seriously. We had the opportunity last week to meet with a client who had some constructive criticism to relay to us, his renovation turned out great we’re proud to say, but there were a few speed bumps along the way, (as there are with most major renovations). We welcome customer feedback on any level, because how can you fix a problem or issue if you don’t know it exists. That meeting has allowed us to address a few things and move forward knowing that we probably won’t have to deal with those topics again. The saying, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen,” applies perfectly to this scenerio. If you shy away from negative feedback from your most valuable resource, being a business owner probably just isn’t for you.

We know that pleasing EVERYBODY is literally impossible, but if you invest in us, we will do everything possible to make sure that you end up with exactly what you want. If you don’t believe us, just ask around.
